Brain Training for Better Sleep

Many of us underestimate the importance of sleep. While there is no magic number for sleep duration, eight hours is a good target for an adult. During the first four hours of sleep, your body restores itself. Then it takes an additional four hours of sleep for your brain to restore itself. Good sleep is a lot easier to accomplish if your brain is working efficiently. At Neurocore Brain Performance Centers, we use our comprehensive assessment to identify your sleep issues, and develop a customized sleep therapy program that uses brain-training to help improve your sleep.

Our Sleep Therapy Program

Neurocore’s approach to helping with your sleep problems starts by looking at the brain. We use advanced qEEG technology to identify and quantify the brain activity that may be contributing to your sleep problems.

A public health problem

The Centers for Disease Control calls lack of sleep a public health problem. Symptoms of a serious sleep problem or disorder may include:

  • Memory problems
  • Difficulty staying asleep
  • Not feeling fully rested after sleeping
  • Trouble falling asleep
  • Waking up too early

Neurofeedback program for better sleep

We evaluate your breathing and heart rate which contribute to overall brain wellness. Our neurofeedback and heart rate variability (HRV) program trains your brain to regulate itself to help you sleep better.

Tips for better sleep

In addition to neurofeedback sleep therapy, we also recommend behavior-based changes to improve sleep:

  • Establish consistent sleep and wake schedules.
  • Create a regular, relaxing bedtime routine.
  • Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol products close to bedtime.
  • Avoid electronics and back-lit screens at least one hour before bedtime.
  • Get regular exposure to natural light, along with exercise, during the day.
