Neurocore can help with Stress

Many of us function in a perpetual state of crisis—whether actual or just perceived. Everyday activities, from a work meeting to a parent teacher conference can trigger a stressful response. You’re perpetually in a fight-or-flight state. When you come to one of our Brain Performance Centers, our comprehensive assessment will identify the brain activity that may contribute to your physical and emotional reactions to stress. Your unique brain map and symptoms will guide us in developing a customized plan to train your brain to better cope with stress.

See What We Do

We use advanced qEEG technology to identify and quantify the brain activity that may be contributing to your stress symptoms. We also evaluate your breathing and heart rate which contribute to overall brain wellness. Our neurofeedback and heart rate variability (HRV) program trains your brain to regulate itself to stay in a more calm, focused state.

Poor stress management leads to poor health

Stress can lead to a range of conditions—many serious, including the following:

  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety, obsessive thoughts, restlessness
  • Change in appetite, upset stomach
  • Change in sex drive
  • Dizziness, migraines
  • High blood pressure, cardiovascular disease
  • Allergies
  • Weight gain around the midsection

Stress releases hormones

The brain automatically reacts to stress by releasing hormones that produce a variety of physiological changes—racing heartbeat, faster breathing, tense muscles and beads of sweat on your forehead. Stress also induces the release of cortisol, a hormone that causes our cells to demand more sugar. This can cause cravings for starchy, sugary food, leading to unwanted weight gain, especially around the midsection. If the stressful responses to your daily activities are constant, your brain never has a chance to recover.

“Wanted to work on ways to cope with stressful situations, and deal with my generalized anxiety.

A lot less stressful. I feel like I’m more able to deal with difficult/unpleasant situations and less hard on myself. My mood has improved also. Really great staff. Everyone very helpful and friendly. Answered all my questions.”

“Our family had been through years of intense stress and it was taking it’s toll individually and collectively. Anger, stressed out relationships, anxiety, oppositional behavior, increased ADHD, depression. Our family had it all. We’d prefer to steer clear of pharmaceuticals, but were beginning to consider that as future treatment.

Five of our family members participated. We had great results in the areas of opposition, anger and depression. With each family member becoming a little more balanced, it has had exponentially positive effects on our family unit as a whole.

The change is real, but it comes about subtly and you have to see the program through to get results. EVERYONE at Livonia and Bloomfield Hills were extremely warm, helpful and hospitable. Sticking to the brain book at each MSW session may provide more guidance to both clinician and client.”

“Much less stressed, have an easier time focusing, no longer constantly anxious. I thought I was born this way and there would be no cure for my anxiety, only band aids, but I feel this really changed me.

Attending Neurocore while also making lifestyle changes made a huge difference to my life. I don’t think the lifestyle changes alone would have make this much of a difference. I feel the brain training actually aided me in making the changes and will aid me in the future to keep doing the right things for my mind and my body.”
